In the News: Queen Latifah A Survivor
Recently, Queen Latifah went on record as reporting she too is a survivor or child sexual abuse. I commend her for coming out with this and not being afraid or ashamed of herself. She realized that by being open with her experience, she is able to influence others and bring awareness to the issue of Child Sexual Abuse. When bringing her experience out in the open with her family she received the same response many of us may have experienced. A mother feeling terrible for not protecting her child, and possibly a father that did not know what to say. I think everyone can relate to this process. But the good news is that part of her and her family’s healing process has occurred by her openness.
